Do we need to get new passwords for the new Hive forum, or will our
old LH ones work?

New usernames and passwords are needed, sadly!

It's me and Liam, but if you mean as in a hoster, it's on khost.

You need to find out what type of database the leisurehive is run on eg. SQL, Oracle, Access?

Does this forum actually give you permission to edit the *.php files on the server domain ( leisurehive.informe.com )?*( see end )

--> If so, then you need to search for the line that connects to the database. It will be something like:

<?php
$dbhost = 'informe.com';
$dbuser = 'root';
$dbpass = 'password';

$conn = mysql_connect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpass) or die ('Error connecting to mysql');
?>

Once you've got the username and password ( $dbuser and $dbpass respectively ) then you will be able to connect to the database manually using the SQL terminal on YOUR computer. For example, using mysql.exe:

mysql.exe -u liam -p password123 -h informe.com

With the username, password and host respectively.

Once you have connected it will give you access to the database. There are commands available to save the database into a file. Google those because I don't know them. Once you've got the database file backed up you can then import it into your own database. However, I don't know if it makes any difference if you are running different types of database servers, say the difference between Oracle and SQL.

-> If the forum doesn't give you access to the files then you may just have to get a program to crawl this site and save it all to one massive html folder. Have fun sorting that out!

There may be another way but I don't know about it. Anyway, I hope my limited knowledge of databases helps.

*I think I have port scanned ( Very Happy ) leisurehive.informe.com before and, if memory serves, I believe there is a listening ftp or ssh port. So you may be able to connect to the file server via ftp. Did informe give you any usernames or passwords when you set up the forum? If not try connecting with "_liam_" and your password BUT i doubt that will work, tbh.

Fucking hell! xM00, get registered, I'm making you an admin at the new place, it was enough for me creating a database for the new forum to live in. Laughing

EDIT: Wait, will that help at all?
