I can barely describe how excited I was to learn RTD would be making Who, as someone who rated that novel of his very highly. It ended up kind of like rushing out to buy a new Nine Inch Nails album of Tad covers with guest appearances from some of them rap fellas I like (insert your own equivalent fantasy musical combo here), shitting myself with excitement, then getting home and finding they're all done in the style of Black Lace and produced by yer frequently enraged Inju5tice chappie.

I have a theory that the blueprint for the new series was, in fact, that Curse of Fatal Death wank they did for Comic Relief. I encourage people to watch it again - it's painfully unfunny, and painfully, painfully prefigures the New Series.

If so, then RTD Who was based on a Moffat version of Who. Interesting theory, you may very well be right. For one thing it would explain why RTD didn't re-write Moffats stories. It doesn't bode well for the future if you are.

Curse of Fatal Death is NuWho in embryonic form, it has a ridiculously camp Master, toilet humour galore, irritating Benny Hill style visual humour, the Doctor in love with his unattractive blonde companion etc. etc. the list is endless.
