I hope the additions are optional, yes?

You'll most definately get a separate disc for each version of DotD.

Great Very Happy

Day of the Daleks was the first story I can remember watching, I'd have been 5 at the time.

Day is one of my all time top 10. A brilliant science fiction story, superbly realised. The central twist blew my mind as a young 'un.

The "special edition" is another waste of cash, of course.

On of my favourites too.

Admit it! You're a spy!

God, who wouldn't crack under such sophisticated interrogation? Laughing

Pertwee is terrific in this, those conversational scenes with the Controller. Nothing in NuWho to match it.

Trailers up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Rlss3Krt7g&feature=player_embedded

So they've added unnecassary CGI effects BUT have not addressed the one legitimate criticism of Day which is the obvious lack of Dalek probs thanks to the use of the white Dalek. I'd have thought they would have recoloured it.

Haha! That looks pretty awesome, actually. Very Happy And the voices don't sound bad, at all; I usually hate Nick Briggs' voices, but they sounded quite good in that small segment at the end.

The trailer makes it look more faster moving and exciting than the final product will ever be, subsequently attention deficit PoohWho fans who buy this will be dissappointed.

They don't look bad but they also don't seem to fit in particularly well. They look like modern effects dropped into a 70s show.

The remastered classic Trek episodes seem to have done the CGI thing much better. There's the odd shot that looks out of place but many of them are sufficiently subtle and sympathetic that you don't notice them.

I don't disagree, but it will be fun to watch I think. At least once, anyway. Very Happy

The TOS stuff is probably the best example of how to update the FX for a modern audience.

It benefits massively from being shot on film though. Transferring modern effects onto HD sources means you don't have to do much re-grading of the effects to make them blend in. The shitty tape Day of the Daleks was shot on makes the new stuff look very incongruous. You could of course spend countless man hours 'ageing' your shiny new CGI, but that would take too much fucking effort.

Nah, it would be easy to do.

Just take the spools of video tape out of the can and let the cat be sick over them a few times and "Hey Presto"

A perfect seamless match!
