How about I turn the question round, in what way is the farce in Delta better than those stories you criticise?

For a start, there's some wonderful characters in Delta: Ray, Gavrok, Delta, Goronwy the beekeeper. Give me any of those over Jackie bloody Tyler, Donna's vile mother, and Barrowman.

Secondly, while some of Delta is in the realm of musical comedy, there is an incipient violence underpinning the whole thing. This juxtapostion makes it a far more satisfying and original story than much New Who.

This, and in many respects its sister story Greatest Show in the Galaxy, piss all over dross like Love and Monsters in terms of extending the format of the show.

Ken Dodd is prettier than Billie Piper and funnier/less annoying than Catherine Tate Very Happy

Oh yes, and a better actor than Freema Agyeman.

Gavrok is potentially a good character I'll grant you but is wasted as little more than a one-dimensional thug. Ray, Delta and Goronwy aren't anything special and the 2 US agents are again dire.

I'm surprised Rani doesn't like "Delta and the Bannermen" myself, in many ways it's a pre-curser for RTD's RemakeWho.

A cartoony story set in Wales full of whimsy mawkish gushingness and idiot comedy characters with the odd pop-culture reference thrown in for good measure.

This story has none of the elements that made the continuation Who a great success. Delta is played for laughs but just isn't funny.

Sorry Rani, but that sounds EXACTLY the same as RTD's spin-off parody series.

Rubbish.

Ray would have made a classier and better looking assistant than Bingo-faced Piper, can't act for shite Freema or Vinegar Tits-Tate.

She was a better more interesting character than mono-dimensional cut-out cardboard Tom Cruise wannabe Barrowman too.

Gavrok was better than most of RTD's ripped-off villians too.

Again you only judge the companions in your usual misogynistic way referring to their looks. Tate was a terrific actor in continuation Who whereas Ray was quite poor.

Rubbish, Ray had a chemistry with McCoy which none of his assistants had and was certainly not full of shallow thicko Chav type behaviour and bluster like Tate.

Ray was also certainly far greater eye-candy for the Dads, but I'm assuming you don't think that's too important in the scheme of audience catchment and Bonnie Langford did a far better job in that regard!

Very Happy

No, but then I'm not a misogynist who views women in this way. I judge Donna a better companion because Tate was a better actress unlike yourself who is only interested in tits.

Actually it's the dads who watch the programme who are only interested in the tits, but then I suppose you would like to cut this demographic out of the show so that it becomes a fringe entertainment for obsessive fanboys instead of a mainstream audience.

Tate could not act for shit, she kept jumping in and out of character particularly when conveying bluster which she did in a completely larger than life manner and which no normal person would realistically do apart from playing things up for comedy effect, which is what Tate was doing rather than acting in any believable manner.

The actresss who played Ray in "Delta and the Bannermen" was far more convincing and a better actress in every regard.

That might actually have worked if I was a fan of his.

Rubbish. You had clearly didn't have custody of the Filth family braincell when watching her performances. Instead, you concentrate on who has the biggest pair of knockers and brazenly state that this is an important part of the show! You attitude to women brings shame on you.

Says the man who think that Barrowman displaying his bare backside in the programme and bragging about objects being shoved up it in "Bad Wolf" is acceptable.

I have just given perfectly reasonable and cohesive reasons why Ray is not just a better actress than Tate but also meets the programmes demographic brief in full too.

No, you made lewd, misogynistic comments about her appearance which you dress of as "meeting a demographic". Shame on you for worshipping at the altar of Kelvin McKenzie.
