According to GB, the BBC are in the process (or at least have given their blessing) to update the 8th doctors costume. I'm guessing this is for BF promotional purposes and not some evil scheme by Fatus Headus.

I thought the old costume was too cliched, but just what the FUCK have they done to him?

It's too much of a departure from the original. Way too fucking much like Eccleston's pub jacket.

chill, people. If that was an official photo, the photography would've been much better. Looks to me to be a convention photo, nothing more.

You mean he dresses like that at conventions?

Was it Trinny and Susannah's What Not to Wear Convention?

You know, I would be fine with that if the jacket weren't so shiny. If it were fabric but the same cut it might not be so problematic.

I don't care for McGann's Doctor but that he's at least preferable to Fathead's impostors, and that might as well be Eccleston in that pic. The Doctor does not wear a leather jacket. He just never would.

Quote:
Paul McGann is currently in New Zealand, a guest at the Armageddon Pop Culture Expo (Auckland, New Zealand) this weekend. On Saturday he appeared on a panel and revealed what is to be the 'new' costume for the Eighth Doctor.

The costume consists of a double-breasted black Naval jacket, with gold buttons. Part of of the ensemble is a courier pouch bag. However, the shirt and trousers were actually McGann's own and not part of the costume.

Also revealed is a new sonic screwdriver, courtesy of Weta Workshop, the wizards behind the effects on The Lord of the Rings. The screwdriver is similar to the one used by the current Doctor, Matt Smith, but has a wooden handle.

The revision comes some fourteen years since the original Eighth Doctor image was established for the 1996 TV Movie; this is now felt to be a little out of date and the new costume - still a work in progress - is said to be used for future promotional purposes.

No other information in known at present, but it is believed to have the blessing of the BBC.

I read in an interview somewhere that McGann originally wanted to do what Ecclescake did, insofar as have a short haircut, as no Doctor had so far done it. When he turned up at teh studio, they shoved the Byron wig on his head and said 'no way Paul.' he was a bit envious that Eccles got to do what he'd originally wanted to do, so I guess this kind of shows the intermediate stage between his Doctor and Eccles's.
