I have my doubts about this article but matt has been quoted saying:

"I'd love to get some sort of pretend parrot on my shoulder because Peter Sellers is my hero. I'm working on it."

"I think with this Doctor, you never know what he's going to do or say, or what he's going to turn up in in the morning. He could have a flamingo on his shoulder.

Were I cast in the role of the Doctor (improbable given my lack of theatrical credentials and almost complete indifference to such an idea), I think my first priority would be to express any old shit that came into my head so as to see what The Sun would consider worth reporting.

DOCTOR WHO: NEW COMPANION IS A MEAT PIE

UNEMPLOYMENT AND THATCHER CAUSED BY ALIENS, CLAIMS NEW WHO ACTOR

TARDIS TO BE REPLACE BY MY OWN TESTICULAR SACK, THE DOCTOR REVEALS

Sound similar to Tom Bakers idea of having a talking cabbage on his shoulder as his companion. Only I think Tom was serious.

Yeah, tom used to pull this shit all the time with parrots and cabbages. To be honest, I think it's what Russell does half the time when we rip the shit out of him, like the Hitler and Amy Winehouse comments.

The Hitler comments were a tad too far, and it was still pretty cuntish to do that. Confused

Aye, next he'll be saying Uncle Joe Stalin would make a good Doctor.

Hitler and Amy Winehouse?

I googled but just came back with loads of barely readable blogs.

Excellent work, Snodgrass. Once I realised what you were doing, I planned on suggesting Oswald Mosley to replace whoever you picked for Tennant only to find it wasn't necessary.

"Russell T Davies says Amy Winehouse would be a brilliant Doctor Who"

The last line in that is a bit weird, considering how much of a crusader he suggests he is in trying to make homosexuality normal in the eyes of families so that it will be a part in breaking down prejudice. I would assume a person with that mindset would absolutely want parents to talk to their children about sex changes unless he's one of those gays who just don't think transsexuals are a genuine group and instead are just going through some odd phase.

Either way even if you did that, parents wouldn't need to answer questions about sex changes - kids would see that the character can change appearance and just see that he's turned into a woman. I don't think that would be too much of a stretch for the young mind. It's the grown up viewers who'd have a problem with it.
