The Doctor, Amy and Rory find themselves on a secret summons to the Oval Office.

Opening on a two parter, that's new for NuWho. About time they realized 45 minutes is not long enough for a decent story.

What do we think of this idea. He seems to get summoned an awful lot these days doesn't he..........

In the past the Doctor used to be the mysterious stranger who seemingly appeared from nowhere, won the day for the side of right and then disappeared as promptly as he had arrived, not a figure known to every national leader personally and who answers to their every whim.

Ok, I'm seriously confused.

The Doctor has been to every planet, but not to America. Only he's been there several times already, but that doesn't count because it wasn't filmed there. So is he claiming the stories set on other planets were filmed on them, or is he claiming they don't count either?

Is being a twat a requirement to produce Dr Who in the 21st century?

I wonder who he's helping in the late 60s oval office?

'Tricky Dicky' Nixon?

'Hey, hey LBJ, how many kids did you kill today' Johnstone?

Nice company he's keeping these days. Rolling Eyes

I see no evidence of the Doctor visiting any planets other than Earth in NooHoo. He managed a lot more when he was in exile without an operative TARDIS.

I can't actually remember the last time the Doctor travelled to an alien planet. During Pertwee's era they actually gave a legitimate reason for the Doctor being confined to earth in the late 1970s, now there is no reason beyond the personal prejudices of the producers.

Culture is one of those outmoded ideas that a modern audience can't relate to. Let's be frank, M00 baby, honey, daaahling, may': it's an audience-killer. Style not substance, that's the ticket.

River. Fucking. Song.

Again.

No problem with the Doctor being summoned - he gave the Brig a Spacetime Telegraph for Zygons - but I'm constantly disappointed at the erosion of the 'mysterious stranger' aspect of the Doctor's character. It's the foundation of him. Ditch that, and you might as well have him join Torchwood and buy a house in Cardiff.
