I get all the original series DVDs as they come out, I figure if I'm going to spend a small fortune on the ones I really want to see I might as well spend a little more to make the collection complete.

I didn't see any of the Colin Baker episodes on original transmission, and very few of the Davison and McCoy ones, so even though they're not my favourite Doctors I still want to see them all incase I unexpectedly find something I really like in them. It also means that I have some "new to me" Who to look forward to Very Happy

I wish I did; unless they find (or animate Rolling Eyes ) the missing eps, my last new 'old' Who was Dinosaurs in 2004.

Still, went out on a high, at least. Very Happy

Dinosaurs and Monster of Peladon are the only Who episodes I haven't seen between Pertwee and Colin Baker. Although I'm about to watch Peladon tonight. Invasion of the Dinosaurs always looked a bit shit and possibly demonstrated the worst Who effects ever. I take you are being sarcastic? Embarassed

Invasion of the Dinosaurs is a Top Ten story for me. Its bloody brilliant.
Okay the effects are a bit ropey but the story is a cracker.

As for the DVDs, I buy all of them when I can. Even the McCoys, but I make sure I have all the others first.

Ahh good. Something to look forward to.

Does anyone know what that "surprise" the people looking for lost Who episodes had when they were interviewed on that Radio programme? I really wanna see Power of the Daleks damnit!

What surprised me was that anyone managed to make a whole programme about missing episodes without Ian Levine taking part. Apparently Sir Ian was much wroth about the omission.

Are you a completist, and still buy them? Or a realist, and think "fuck that"? I ask this because initially I intended on buying all the classic Who DVDs but Time and the Rani has just come out.

One of the things I like about DR Who is that it never gets that bad. Black Orchid is superb, such a complete break from the futuristic epics. They should have made more purely historical stories. I'm happy with any reasonable copy though, on video, or dvd audio only etc. There have been some very cheap dvds on ebay lately.

Agree with this. In fact, Top Five. And it doesn't drag over its six episodes either. You just have to overlook the lame dinosaurs.

A while ago someone replaced the original effects with bits nicked from Jurassic Park with pretty impressive results - maybe some alternative effects from the Restoration Team could be a DVD extra.

Absolutely right, it's a big favourite of mine. The Dinosaurs are comical rather than scary, but as the Doctor says, "the dinosaurs are just a side-show"... Malcolm Hulke wrote a terrific story that doesn't rely on them at all.

Monster of Peladon is fucking awful though. Shocked

I was talked into getting a McCoy DVD on the recommendation of a good mate who managed to convince me it was well worth a spin. That will be the only McCoy I shall ever purchase. It was even more ludicrous and shitty than I remember it being. Ah well to each their own.
I would happily purchase anything from the first 5 doctors and some of my favorite Colin Bakers.
New series/ remake series will never have any place on my DVD shelf.

Pretty good!

Invasion of the Dinosaurs is actually really good! The first episode is a strong contender for best opening DW episode ever, it has a very mysterious feel

Hmm. Battlefield per chance?

Give Curse of Fenric a chance, go on. It's brilliant.
