Can't you stretch to both? Very Happy

Possibly Very Happy

Not at all bad though is it? 16 episodes/5 discs for less than £15. Cool

I don't know if Talons is worth getting right now, with it being re-released shortly on the Revisitions Box set.

Anyhow I went for War Games, not only the best story aside from Talons on that list, but also got by far the best extras/special features.

Oh! I've heard some vaugue rumblings about this box set, but i didn't know that Talons was supposed to be on it. Seems an odd chioice, in that it's already had a 2 disc release.
I'm happy to take your word for it, but i was under the impression that the idea of the Revisitations box set was to re-release early dvd releases that had barely any extras. I would've thought that the likes of Ark in Space & Robots of Death would be more obvious choices.
I was also under the impression (but could be totally wrong) that it wasn't being released for quite some time yet.
Anyway, what else do you know about this set? What other stories are on it?

Yes on Revisitions 1 it will have Talons of Weng-Chiang (which I think has a new docu on the making of the story, which the original release didn't have, plus possibly Tom Baker commentary Very Happy), The 96 Telemovie, and the Caves of Androzani (which hopefully will have much better picture and sound quality then the original release)

Spearhead from Space, and Tomb of the Cybermen, are strongly rumoured to be the stories in the next Revisitation box set next year ...

Personally I would want Spearhead to be released on Blu-Ray format as well ..

Ah, ok! Thanks for that. Smile

I haven't got Bluray myself, and i admit i don't know the slightest thing about how it works, technically.
So my question is: Do you think that a tv episode from 40yrs ago will be significantly improved in quality to merit being released on Blu-ray?

It's just that it's something that i've thought about getting, but the main reason i haven't is because most of the stuff i watch is old stuff from years ago, so i'm not sure a Blu-ray player will be worth it for me.

Interesting question, although I don't think many Classic series stories could need/warrant the blu-ray treatment, I think Spearhead is one that would be a great choice, oddly enough the 96 TVM as well.

It is much better for movies though and newer TV series, such as I got the Complete specials on Blu-Ray and Turdshit - Children of RTD's Earth.

The Robert Downey Sherlock Holmes movie for instance is a bloody treat on Blu-Ray.

I thought the re-releases weren't about extras, they were being done because the RT were much less bold in messing about with the stories when they did the early ones. They don't want people to be watching DVDs that don't have sound cues missed off, credits the wrong colour or missing, boom mike shadows clumsily painted out and actors with vibrant orange skin.

I read somewhere that Spearhead is one of the only stories to have a high enough resolution to benefit from a BluRay release. It was from an interview with Steve Roberts from the RT. Don't ask me how and why because I don't know.

He said Spearhead will be the first BluRay release.

About the other point. I really don't see the point of re-releasing these already released stories? I mean, fucking hell, release something we haven't got you muppets. I'm not arsed about some "funny" extra.

Well this is it!
Whether i buy these re-releases will entirely depend on what i can glean regarding whether any new extras are actually worth it or not.
The quality of the extras has gone right down over the last couple of years.

Fucking Ida Barr and Beneath the Masque, and then people wonder why Tubby Levine cracks the shits when they can't be fucked paying for animations or re-cons of missing episodes, or re-colourizing Mind of Evil.
