Right, so I've got this snazzy 22" HDTV that I was planning to use as a monitor for my laptop as well as a TV but it displays the computer screen like shit. I can get a slightly smaller actual computer monitor to use for £90, and the TV was £175, so out of £300 birthday money that leaves me with about £35. £30 of that is going to go to getting me and Hollie to Chester for the day in Summer.

My question is this: do I take the TV back, get a smaller one and have another £50 (this other TV would be 19" instead of 22" and wouldn't have a DVD player attatched) or do I just sod it, stick with it and get the monitor and tickets to Chester?

The only reason I'm asking is because I can't decide whether it's worth getting the smaller TV as it doesn't have a DVD player, which could prove useful! But then I can play these on the computer, but it's not the same as just settling in with the remote is it?

I was also planning to purchase some classic Who DVDs...but they can wait Very Happy

Really, long as I can get me and Hollie to Chester, I'm happy. Still, advice welcome.

I got this gadmei converter box which converts all sorts of signals to other types so you get really good quality pictures. i can try and dig out a link if you like.

Other than that, I would say just go with a projector!! Its a much better idea and with a converter it should project just about anything from VHS to your laptop onto a large wall.

It really will be the cables Mike. I had the same problem with my laptop and went to a specialist hardware store and they gave me a converter box. Only cost me £10.

Tried various different cables to no avail. Ah well, getting a proper monitor with my Christmas money and this thing will be going back up on the wall anyway!

These days there is craze for WIDE SCREENS in respect of TVs and in respect of PC LCD Monitors. In fact LCD TVs are all wide screens. In respect of PC LCD Monitors also 90% are wide screens. Very few normal size Monitors are available.
Please tell me the real advantage of WIDE SCREEN over NORMAL SCREEN.
I am asking this question because being used to watching normal scree, I feel strange & inconvenient to watch on wide screen.
