Turns out he wanted to bring back more companions for the Doctor's funeral
in SJA - 'Death of the Doctor'.

Davies Wanted More Ex-Companions

Russell T Davies has explained that Jo Grant wasn’t the only companion he wanted to bring back in The Sarah Jane Adventures story Death of the Doctor.

“[Jo Grant] wasn’t always there – the idea of the Doctor came first. But the more we explored the idea of seeing his funeral – his real, genuine, proper funeral, come the day he dies – then it just seemed odd that no one from his past came along”, he says in the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine.

“Believe me, if we’d have had the budget, I’d have packed the halls with every single ex-companion, I’d have even found a way to pluck Romana out of E-Space!”

Davies also suggested another appearance by the Doctor is unlikely in Series 5: “It’ll have to be different next year, you’ve got to keep moving on. I wonder…Maybe it’s time we really did The Two Ranis.”

Once again, Russell shows his originality. Rolling Eyes

"His real, genuine, proper funeral"? Or, in English, the shite, ludicrous bum-pretzel what Fathead wrote.

So some good has come out of worldwide financial meltdown.

How we look forward to the day when it's goodnight from him.

...why do this?

I am increasingly under the impression that he lies awake at night, thinking of ways to defecate all over the series.

He must have a pathological hatred of the series that he's passive-aggressively expressing in his writing.

Sorry, just cause you murdered Doctor Who, doesn't mean you get to organise his funeral.

Ah, but you see, Rusty is just an overgrown fanboy. This is why you shouldn't let fanboys touch the show they love. It ends up as a sloppy, self-pleasing fan-fiction that money gets invested into.

Quite. Mad Larry did it 13 years ago. Very Happy

...you make a good point there. Honestly, I'd rather think he hates the show, though, just so that I don't have to share a similarity with the man, but you're probably right.

I don't think there are any fans I'd trust with running the show.

One thing I'd like to see would be a wider range of writers, and no writer getting to do more than one story a year. And drop the fucking story arcs for Gods sake Mad

I'd be happy to have to story arcs, but not for whole series. Have it the good old way, one story over 4 episodes then move on.

Your idea about the writers is spot on too.

Agreed. The story arcs are complete bollocks, and are getting more and more ridiculous as the series continues. I would personally prefer the old system of three/four part stories, as it would keep the viewers hooked.

And I think it is fairly obvious that Rusty, Moffhead, Roberts, Chibnall and the other writers are all fanboys. The companions have all effectively been Mary-Sues(they do nothing but fulfil RTD's fanfic fantasies) and the endings have all been the sort of over-the-top cheesefest you'd expect someone to come up with as a kid.
