Lidster's Rapture might be a bit tossy but his Master is pretty excellent. It's like a little Doctor Who stage play.

Master was excellent, which is why it seems so strange that I should find everything else he's written so damn painful. Everything (possibly excepting Master) feels like the work of someone who has "learned" to write through reading Doctor Who, and whose ambition is to write Doctor Who, and that's it.

From the moment I read those sleeve notes stating that "in the immortal words of Sophie Ellis-Bextor, there'll be murder on the dance floor."

Immortal words??? IMMORTAL WORDS!!!!??? Lidster, you hopeless fucking cock! LEARN TO WRITE!!!! JUST BECAUSE SHAVED CHIMPANZEES ARE ALREADY PAYING YOU, DOESN'T MEAN THERE ISN'T CONSIDERABLE ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT.

That's what I think anyway.

I think it's mainly the most extreme Nu-Who fans, like Blum, who behave this way though. It's only this clique of "Superfans" that think RTD is perfect
and must never be criticised.

Most of the other Nu-Who fans I've read say "Yeah, I mostly enjoyed Nu-Who, although that RTD story was a bit of a let-down", or "I preferred
Midnight to Journey's End".
