Hmmm... Old Who definitely had massive nuts, and I'm pretty sure all right-thinking people will be agreed on that, but I still can't accept that NuWho has a big cock. Much of its piss-and-wind seems symptomatic of over-compensation for an eeny-weeny little two incher.

Ah... I see what you're getting at now: massive but futile.

I still think no one can top for utter cuntishness in fandom, those cunts in Liverpool who made insulting remarks in their fanzine about the death of Colin Baker's baby son.

and of course some twat a few years ago said he couldn't wait for McCoy to die, so he could piss on his grave.

honestly i am so over most of fandom, i've stopped going to conventions now because frankly a whole lot of fans there have the collective iq of Russell Brand's left testicle.

on the plus side though, i once had a few beers with Colin Baker in a hotel lobby at a con several years ago, smashing chap he is, always got time for him.

Amen. The sad tragics can bite me, frankly.

Good grief. That is vile.

I must admit the thought of a Who convention always appalled me. I went to a few ComicCons back in the 1990s and that was quite enough for me.

He's right of course. This whole post-modern, self-referencing intertextual crap annihilates suspension of disbelief and effectively drives what could be decent drama into the realm of absolute farce.

The idea that you can only make drama in this way is perpetuated by fucking imbecile trendy writers like Davies, who wow the braindead with a few pop culture references, big explosions and the type of vomit-inducing emotionality that would make a Mills and Boon reader cringe.

The whole point of classic Who was to take the absurd and approach it as seriously as possible. It rarely (if ever) reached across the barrier between the audience and the story. New Who sticks its big over-sized priapic cock in the grave of the classic show. Every pop culture reference, piece of self-referential bullshit or change in tone so obtuse that you feel like banging your head against the wall destroys everything the show used to be about.

Spot on.

Ludders and I were saying exactly the same thing on Sunday when I showed him McGovern's comments in The Observer.

New Who fails to take itself seriously and consequently patronises its audience. The majority of Classic Who - even when being completely absurd - takes itself seriously and doesn't patronise its audience. Many of us have been pointing this out for five years.

Oh, and to the knob Matthew Graham (whoever he is): there was a rape in Doctor Who in 1965.

Jimmy - you can only make criticisms of Doctor Who if you're an established professional writer like what I am. I've done writing, and Russell and Steven are brilliant.

Cheers
