Just found this on Gallifrey Base

"I believe it's been hinted that the classic range design will change when the new series airs in 2010 to bring it all under one style of image branding, so then the reversible covers will come into their own for purists who don't want their classic series covers to suddenly be tied into the look/logo of the new series."

What fucking moron thought this one up? If anything, the new series should change to the classic branding.

Shrug. Can't see anything wrong with having reversible covers myself. Surely that's an attempt to keep everyone happy?

Eurgh. Given how ugly the new branding is, this will look horrible - especially given how ugly the new series DVD covers are.

I've got no problem with reversible covers. It's not a bad idea.

What is a bad idea, is changing the design of the classic series line so that 100 or so DVD covers are uniform design, and the remaining 40, or however many, get put out in a completely different design. Even if you can reverse them at home, the shop shelves will look a complete mess and just confuse NuWho fans or people new to the whole thing.

It's a small mercy that we get reversible covers, but this is a fucking wankshite idea. Combining the two? Yeah, it's good for new fans to pick up old stories, but because they've done the classic covers in a uniform design for so long it's just shiiiiiiit.

Can't agree really. If it gets young fans buying the old stories, that's got to be good. If you're an old school fan and want the old design, you reverse the sleeve.

If the shops shelves look a mess, um... well, who gives a shit?

Come on, everyone, I really can't see a downside here! Rolling Eyes

How does that work?

"Ooh, I've never heard of this Pyramids of Mars. Was that in series two? And is that David Tennant in a huge curly wig?"

If I was still buying the DVDs I'd be up in arms about this further contamination of the DW space with New Who stuff. As it is, though, they've alienated me so much with their restoration mistakes that I've stopped purchasing them.

What the fuck are you talking about? Do I have to spell it out in words of three letters or less? Rolling Eyes

I'm not suggesting that they'd be 'fooled' into thinking it's a David Tennant story. But anything which gets them looking twice at something that otherwise they might not have spotted (or just ignored) – well, they're surely more likely to give it a go. What possible harm can it do? If that doesn't make them want to check it out, well, you're probably chasing a lost cause anyway.

Christ, some people on here would complain at anything.

No, it's simply that you're argument is nonsense.

Whereas you are much more selective, only turning up to do a bit of stirring every now and again.
