Just seen this, not bad, Julian Bleach is delightfully over the top as the villian and the story is VERY much like and inspired by one of the Nightmare On Elm Street series(but not as horrific)

As with all RTD stuff, some annoying crying towel emo-dirge moments, particularly in the resolution - the "together we're fantastic" crap in order to defeat The Nightmare Man really grated, and so too did some of Murray Golds over the top rubbish.

All in all however, a fairly enjoyable piece of fluff - the 25 minute episodes really benefit this series and although still tinged with annoying RTD-isms, in some ways it feels more like Who than the parent programme does. It certainly seems to have a better variation of stories to tell.

Not one of the outright best from the SJA series, but certainly a touch above average.

Ugh sorry - found it on iPlayer and I tried, but couldn't get past 'Written by Joseph Lidster'.

Don't think this one is for me.

Though I now see where you get your avatar from.

Oh dear.

When Classic Who did horror, we got Frankenstein turned into Morbius, Dracula into State of Decay, The Mummy in Pyramids of Mars, Jeckyll and Hyde in Planet of Evil.

This is Nightmare on Elm Street part 96. Effective only cos the target audience are unlikely to have seen the original. This isn't adaptation, it's plagiarism. Dressing Julian Bleach up as Heath Ledger's Joker moves it one further step to downright offensiveness.

Not only that, it's treading in the same ground as Amy's Choice. Which, despite its faults, was a relatively original and enjoyable episode. It makes it seem like ideas are thin on the ground (Which they are).

I'm not saying this isn't enjoyable, it's just so derivative, and it insults its audience in being so.

True, but I'd rather influences like that than The fucking Lion King or Disney shit which usually influences RTD.

SJA have also taken a lot of their inspiration from 80's horror flicks, there was one a few series ago which was a direct steal from Hellraiser too, but I'd rather those influences than the fucking Poseidon Adventure or the Flumps which inspire Fathead.

A note on the music: apart from the theme tune, which is more of a spasm than a composition, the music is not by Gold but in a move of truly horrific proportions has been composed to SOUND LIKE Gold.

That is when its not stealing music from LOST and adding Kerrygold's OOoooOOOO over the top:

Michael Giacchino - Life and Death

Sam Watts - The Ultimate Sacrifice (wait for it)

Please. Very Happy

I got no sleep last night, it's cold, it's raining, I've got 6 pieces of coursework in for Friday which is going to mean staying up all night on Wednesday and Thursday. 48 hours+ no sleep! The next person who says university is "a doss", I'm going to kick in the cunt.

That avatar just tips me over the edge. Razz
