I for one (of many) hit the roof when I found out that Tate was returning for the whole of series 4 reprieving her role as Donna. I have to admit that my reservations were wrong as I feel that she has been the strongest companion since New Who began in 2005.

Now there are whispers on the net, spoilers and even other sources that are stating that Tate will be leaving at the end of series 4 and will not be in any of the specials xmas or indeed in the series hiatus year. I think this is a big mistake. Even with her stint on the show all Davies has done is to undermined her with the return as Rose. Poor Tate. I suppose this is the only way Rusty would screw a women.

Exactly Richie.

Yes, Tate has been excellent, which is probably the reason Davies is getting rid of the character by having the Doctor go back in time to save her and then have Captain Cunt retcon her so she can't remember anything. Lucky Donna.

It's no different to RTD's treatment of Martha though, when she was cast in the series RTD undermined her presence throughout by carping on about fucking Rose all of the time.

Basically thicko chav Rose and her stupid idiot family are the only characters RTD is inspired and feels sympathetic towards because they represent the archetypal Davies demographic for the audience, a load of Big Brother watching Heat reading chav morons.

Tates character has been repeatedly ruined by either having Tate comedy bluster scenes bolted on, or the repeatedly stupid "We aren't a couple" joke, which was never funny in the first place, merely a side slap to fans criticism of RTD because they understand the programme and it's relationships a lot better than Davies who think its just an excuse for a gushy load of soap shit.

Tate apparently "dies" at the end sacrificing herself to save the day after discovering she is a pawn, only for either gold magic Disney Tinkerbell dust or a reset time lever to bring her back to life again abiet with a wiped memory.

RTD really does write some fucking self-indulgent third rate hack bollocks.

You are right Richie, despite the usual nashing and grinding of teeth on this forum when she was announced she has since been superb. Great performances for a well written and well-realised character. Well done RTD OBE for not listening to the ne'er do well doomsayers. Laughing

Like the fucking shit montage in the otherwise decent Sontaran story, and as Rob says, the deeply unfunny continual "we're not a couple" shit.

Those scenes were a nice counterpoint and the "not a couple" gag is not intrusive IMO. I think you just want it to upset you so you let it.

It doesn't upset me; I just think that it's typical of the indolent writing we've come to expect.

Sometimes I think you'd consider a huge steaming turd produced by Russell T Davies to be a work of genius.

No but then I haven't said the creation of Donna was a work of genius just a very good character, well played

It's not intrusive... just shoe-horned in every five minutes?

You have a very strange concept of 'not intrusive', Rani.
