I've never seen a thread derailed so heavily as this. Especially with help from the admin.

God bless The Leisure Hive.

For me the best game ever was Elite. On the Commodore 64 in my case.

Was that the one where you piloted a space craft and traded between planets ?

Lave and Zaonce were the first two IIRC.

Best computer game?

Easy.

Half Life2 of course.

Games in order of greatness:

1.Half Life 2
2.Half Life
3.Quake
4.Thief
5.Thief 2
6. Unreal
7.Quake 3
8.Unreal Tournament
9.Wheel Of Time
10. Daikatana(Yes I KNOW single player sucked - but multiplayer was the fastest fragfest ever)

Ah man, I loved that game. I used to play it all the time during lunch at work. I remember the most important thing being to get an automatic docking function. It was a bitch manually. terrific fun.

No contest Very Happy

It's just a shame that there's been next to no news on episode 3, which is apparently going to be longer than the original game. I suppose Portal 2 will have to do in the meantime

Really? I've heard this a lot and I just don't get it. The game seemed like a tedious trudge to me. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

Forgot all about Elite, I feel like an idiot.

I almost misread that for Postal2 - an excellent game!

I dunno how the fuck I missed that one off my list!

I suppose it depends on how much you invest in the story - which is absolutely integral to the gameplay. If you didn't, I can understand why you feel that way Laughing

I think its the way the NCP's interact with you in real time and the way the narration is all in real time rather than cut scenes which makes both Half Lifes so fucking good.

I would say the Thief series has the same level of immersion however even if it is a slower paced game.
