Is a bit iffy & I'm not suprised it's been left so long, but the current Beatles media tossfest makes me wonder if BeatleManiacs might bump the sales of a Chase dvd up a bit more because of the Ticket to Ride TOTP footage...

Personally I love this story. Sure, it has a Dalek who struggles with maths and screams while falling off the [i]Mary Celeste{/i], but I just class that as one that went a bit wrong.

I see it as a jokey episode, of the kind The X Files and Buffy used to do

But ifit was in New Who some people would have a real hissy fit over it.

That's because there would be a load of snogging and "I wuv yoo" blubbing to "gone with the wind" music along with clumsily shoehorned in gay-references and fart jokes shoved in there too.

Hmm, well, yes, I see your point. But the thing is, Rani, the Doctor was in character and Ian, Barbara and Susan were believable characters, the only downside is the Dalek, which people do slag off. If it was the new series, every character would be shit so the Dalek would just be deemed as shit as the story itself. This story and its characters are actually good, and that's the difference.

I think "The Chase" is brilliant myself, one of the most entertaining out of the Hartnell 6-parters. The rapid change of scenery and location makes it plod less than other 6-part stories.

I agree, Rob.

I disagree with your generalisation that every character in New Who is shit. It's as weak as saying every monster in old Who was crap.

No it's not, because the former statement is the truth and the latter a lie.

Tell me about it.

The media has been willingly hijacked to flog a twatty computer game and some remastered shitty CDs and the bovine public are hoovering it up like crazed and retarded gimps.

Even Waking the Dead last night felt obliged.

For what it's worth, I rather like The Chase, brief clip of the Cuntles notwithstanding. At least it's contemporaneous - unlike the current torrent of cack spurting from the cloaca of hyper-capitalism.

Yes, of course the Fab Four caused the Soviet Union to collapse. Now fuck off. Cunts.

Laughing

That's the second time i've seen that mentioned.
Is that the medias latest claim then? On what basis would they make such a hyperbolic claim? Did the Tweetles ever even go to the USSR?

There's a twatumentary on BBC4 tonight about the Pissy Four bringing down the Soviet Empire.

Twatumentary. Laughing

I'll have a look at that then. If i'm not doing something more worthwhile, like cleaning the bath, or counting the change in my change jar.

No doubt they also caused the Second Vatican Council...
