I've just heard a programme on Radio 4 which featured an item about a guy called Nick Griffiths who's written a book about Doctor Who locations. He was was asked if the show had filmed abroad. He said that Colin Baker and Patrick Troughton went to Lanzarote and that the TVM was filmed in San Francisco.

I take it research wasn't all that important for the book then

Jeez.

In an ironic twist, I was going to ask honourable members whether there was any Who filming in locations near Northampton (specifically Roade) since I'll be in that area in December having a pre-Christmas break after the students have fucked off...any suggestions welcome!

I know that the music hall in Talons is in Northampton, and is apparently the best preserved Victorian theatre in the country.

This might help:

His previous Who book was pretty good.

A brilliant website, I've used it as a guide to help do 'Now & Then' images of a few London locations.

I think I sent you a PM a while back saying how much I enjoyed your photos.

If other members haven't seen them, have a look - they're fascinating.

In August I spent a very pleasant afternoon in the country lanes of Gloucestershire looking for the field with the pylon that's seen in Invasion eps 1 and 8.

This was the best candidate I could find - I couldn't get any closer!

really first class stuff tetra Smile meticulously reproduced, in your "The Chase" picture, I love the way that same branch creeps in the top right of the picture, 40 odd years apart

Pex yours isn't loading for me just yet but I look forward to scrutinising!

The nearest who location to me is the draconian embassy from frontier in space (the spiky building not the south bank centre), it's gated but you can see the spikes if you lurk around.

The one I REALLY want to go to is the industrial park from "Inferno", apparently it looks pretty much the same. Have a jazz woodbine and wander around listening to Delia's dark ambient, spook myself out Laughing

That locations website is well excellent. I am planning a few trips right now, so cheers for the link!!!

@ _liam_, I seem to recall reading somewhere that a lot of the location for inferno isnt there anymore, but I could be wrong. If its still there though, let me know as id like to have a poke around there and do some field recordings for later use Smile

Another website. Don't know if it is related to the one already mentioned.

http://www.doctorwholocations.net

Mention is made on the credits page of another book 'On Location', by Richard Bignell.

It looks good. Here are details of the Inferno industrial estate.
